Imagine a day when you can communicate with your car without words, and certainly without pushing buttons.  It is right around the corner.  The brilliant minds that are responsible for the majority of the technology that comes from the BMW labs is working on a system they call Hand, Head Input. 

This system allows you to communicate with your car for stereo settings as well as accepting phone calls in your car via the car phone that is built in.  Without worrying about actually, looking for the correct button to push this is a huge safety feature that is also great for helping improve the luxury appearance of one of the best cars on the market today. 

When you are able to change tracks on your CD, and even turn the music on or off without ever touching a button you know you are sitting inside a cocoon of technology and that is the goal that BMW aims to deliver.  From the ability to simply shake your head yes or no to answer a phone to simple hand gestures that operate your radio you are looking towards a completely new way of using the accessories in your car. 

Imagine too that the same car has the ability to sense where cars are around you and the speed in which they are traveling.  This is the technology that is called Lane Change Assist that is being developed.  With the technology, being developed it is a great task that will allow red lights to flash in the side view mirrors if it is not safe to change lanes.  Talk about an incredibly smart car that is able to help reduce the number of side collisions each year. 

Add on top of these great safety features the fact that simply put they are awesome extensions of technology and you have a fabulous car that is designed with the driver in mind.  Imagine, if this is what they are planning for the near future models what can be expected from BMW in the further future.  It is virtually impossible to ever say truthfully that BMW is a follower, with this great technology emerging from their development labs it is obvious BMW aims to please everyone and have the rest of the car manufacturers follow on their heels.
