BMW 135i, the Model of the Year 2008

March 21, 2008 16:16 by Tajvi

Winter has passed and spring is on air. The air is warmer, so is the road. Buckle up folks, here come our new “bimmer”s in America, the BMW series one cars.

The top car among the series one, in my opinion is the BMW 135i. Why? Well, think about the biggest engine of six cylinders from BMW and then dream of one of the small chick cars. What do you have in your mind? A day-dream? No, it’s the new BMW 135i.

The 135i uses the same six cylinder engine (inline cylinders) of the 3-series cars. Saying more specifically, this is the 1-series version of the 335i. But the difference here is that, the large body is replaced by a slick small hull. Amongst the cars of series-1, the 128i and the 135i will have a 230-horsepower and 300-horsepower engine respectively. The body of the 135i will have a touch of a derivative of the M-series cars, combined with a more insistent look. However, being small in all dimensions, it still weighs just 132 pounds less than the 335i. Not that light vehicle you feared, isn’t it?

The high performance car will have a fuel efficient tag also. You can expect to have even 30 miles per gallon economy with this vehicle. The 6-speed manual transmission and the powerful engine both are pleasingly responsive and will give you a fully satisfied ride.

About the cost? Well, you are with the elite group, so expect to pay an elite figure. The series-1 cars will come with a price tag of around 30,000 dollars. However, basing upon models, there could be some variations of 5,000$ plus or minus.

So, apart from the performance, what does this bunch of money buy you? The interior is a cute ergonomic outfit close to the 3-series cars. You have options for Bluetooth and USB inputs, satellite radio, the iDrive control system and GPS navigator. And of course, the show-off is guaranteed!
