BMW 135i, the Model of the Year 2008

March 21, 2008 16:16 by Tajvi

Winter has passed and spring is on air. The air is warmer, so is the road. Buckle up folks, here come our new “bimmer”s in America, the BMW series one cars.

The top car among the series one, in my opinion is the BMW 135i. Why? Well, think about the biggest engine of six cylinders from BMW and then dream of one of the small chick cars. What do you have in your mind? A day-dream? No, it’s the new BMW 135i.

The 135i uses the same six cylinder engine (inline cylinders) of the 3-series cars. Saying more specifically, this is the 1-series version of the 335i. But the difference here is that, the large body is replaced by a slick small hull. Amongst the cars of series-1, the 128i and the 135i will have a 230-horsepower and 300-horsepower engine respectively. The body of the 135i will have a touch of a derivative of the M-series cars, combined with a more insistent look. However, being small in all dimensions, it still weighs just 132 pounds less than the 335i. Not that light vehicle you feared, isn’t it?

The high performance car will have a fuel efficient tag also. You can expect to have even 30 miles per gallon economy with this vehicle. The 6-speed manual transmission and the powerful engine both are pleasingly responsive and will give you a fully satisfied ride.

About the cost? Well, you are with the elite group, so expect to pay an elite figure. The series-1 cars will come with a price tag of around 30,000 dollars. However, basing upon models, there could be some variations of 5,000$ plus or minus.

So, apart from the performance, what does this bunch of money buy you? The interior is a cute ergonomic outfit close to the 3-series cars. You have options for Bluetooth and USB inputs, satellite radio, the iDrive control system and GPS navigator. And of course, the show-off is guaranteed!

Testing the New 2008 BMW M3 - Taming the Lion

March 9, 2008 01:52 by Tajvi

Welcome to the track! Let’s celebrate the first plying on road of another great vehicle from BMW, the M3 model 2008. When speed and power matters, your new BMW M3 is a wonder. This is the vehicle you call, too fast; too furious.

Well, I meant furious, not a fluffy bed. You need to trade some amenities for this charming speed.

The new series of M3 has a new engine in the field. Adieu to the old inline-six cylinder engines. The previous engines of this type had 333 horsepower coming from a 3.2 litre volume. The hardware was optimum and couldn’t be reinvented for a stronger output. Therefore, there was no other option than adding two more cylinders along with the existing six.

So, now it’s a V-8. It’s an attempt to close the big brother M5 having V-10. But amazingly, this V-8 is even lighter than the V-6 with six cylinders. How is it possible? Ask the automobile engineers. For us, the laymen, good enough to know that this V-8 will produce 414 horsepower through the 4 litre engine.

Tick on the start, and the tamed lion roars. This vehicle has got a powerful engine with quick responses. Pushing up, you reach the torque peak easily and get a 3900 rpm. And when you achieve higher rpm until 8400, you feel the real fuming lion. But it’s like music to the passionate ears.

The new M3 will give you a driving experience like nothing before. The controls are potent. The challenge of running on different roads is competently solved. You have the speed, the power, yet the vehicle is a polished and sober one. It doesn’t look like, but the weight is not to be ignored. Therefore, the inertia is noted; especially while turning or braking. Despite this little itching on my back, I can’t wait but hold on the wheels and HERE WE GO!
