More DOs and DON’Ts for Your Bargain Car Insurance

March 16, 2008 03:44 by Tajvi

Insurance for your car is very much available, but where is the real “Bargain” deal? Even when you have chosen your company, here are a few DOs and DON’Ts that might save you more bucks!

Do discuss with someone with a similar car or who has got the same profile as your, like profession, driving history, etc. Many of the lessons are learnt by mistakes. Why don’t you exploit their experiences?

Do talk about deals with the agents. “Bargain is not the gentleman’s way”, wash out this idea. The agent might look embarrassed, don’t hesitate. It’s his way of dealing, you follow your way. The agent is not a newbie to bargains. And have the faith, that they really can lower your quotes or negotiate, despite “stiff” fixed rates their company offers.

Do mention about mileage. If you are going to have a limited mileage for the car, why not get advantage of the 'limited mileage policy' they might have. It’s a certain way of getting a lower quote.

Do tell them if you keep the car mostly in garage. A car off road is of course a zero risk car.

Do tell them if you drive another car too. Driving another car could add something to your credentials.

Do pay your bills in time. A delay wouldn’t get you much except for penalising on some occasion.

Don’t forget to list all the drivers who would be driving the car. It may pose to be a money-saving tweak not to list your spouse or kid as the potential driver. But this has got a very bad point. Your kid is hurt in his driver’s career being unlisted for a long time.

Don’t give any wrong information. Even over initial phone-calls. Insurance companies are smarter than you think and often they record all the calls to cover their side in case of litigation.

Don’t hide any modifications made to your car or any other updates on info you provided (including if your kid starts driving the car halfway while your insurance is already enforced).

Don’t loose vital documents like the original bill of sale (with mileage written on it), etc. Papers really matter!

Enough with lectures? Yes, there could be thousands. But above all, use your head! Not every bit of suggestion would fit every case. So, take a breath and good Insurance!!

Five Tips in Search of the Best Deal in Car Insurance

March 16, 2008 02:04 by Tajvi

Searching the web certainly, you will get a huge list of companies that offer insurance for your car. But not everyone will tell you the tricky tips that can get you a cheaper price. Here are the five DOs to find a better deal for your BMW or any car insurance.

1. First thing to do is to seek information. Gather as much information as you can. Internet is a good source, but don’t let go the old methods. Newspaper, auto magazine, even your roadside billboard may have the crucial information you are long time looking for. Not only websites of insurance companies will hold the info to be picked up. Look into related forums, chat rooms, blogs, groups and communities in the social networks. Not all the info is to be remembered. Filter them as per your location and conditions.

2. Once you gathered your info, investigate! Not the perfect advertisement brings you the perfect deal. Rather in most of the cases, the most convincing advert will unfold some loop-holes, or the classic “conditions apply” with a star. With all the info listed, go for a comparison; both short and long-term.

3. Knock the agents with further queries. Search whether they have some specific deal for you due to some associations, professions, age, sex or other cases. Some companies may have special offers for people with different professions. You are a policeman, a pilot or a who-knows-what; don’t miss the special offer, if they have got any.

4. You are a member of some organisation? You could belong to some of the privileged clubs your insurance company counts. Many a times, these companies allow some advantages for many of their corporate clients. Even if you are the member of a “daddy-day-care” club, why not turn up the stone to see what they have got for you. Maybe there is a discount already waiting for you!

5. Very often, there are special prices for members of auto-related groups. If you say that you belong to an owners club, the agent might consider your case for someone who might be less prone to risk in their calculations.
