Green BMW Hydrogen7 Paving Out it’s Way

March 22, 2008 17:19 by Tajvi

While there had been a lot of buzz about a real hydrogen car, nobody proved it into a manageable vehicle other than the BMW. The BMW H7 is the almost refined and polished hydrogen the environmentalist have asked for. This is the car that can run even only using hydrogen. However, you have option to use other fuels also.

When you are running on hydrogen, after the combustion, the exhaust is simply water, more specifically, water vapour. It’s another milestone in auto-makers journey towards the ultimate green car. While all other fuel cars emit CO2 after combustion, the BMW H7 is free of this harmful gas which is causing the

The BMW Hydrogen 7 is not yet for sale, however, with further developments it is expected to become a popular choice. Since, the BMW Hydrogen 7 emits nothing but water vapour, it is in the list of the green cars like the electric car. So far these green cars had been concept cars, but the BMW Hydrogen 7 being produced in some hundred samples, seem to have arrived the ultimate edge of being in market commercially.

BMW has built about 100 of the Hydrogen 7 cars from the sedan genre with the famous V-12 engine and can run using either gasoline or hydrogen. Now, hydrogen is available in a gaseous form in atmospheric temperature. So the hydrogen going to be kept in the tank would be liquid hydrogen kept in tremendous high pressure. You can say, it’s a similar concept of using LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) or methane in the dual-fuel cars. Why do we need to keep them liquid? Because a tank full of gas is just equivalent of few drops of gasoline. So it needs to be compressed and kept as liquid. A tank of liquid hydrogen is sufficient to fill up a standard sized big balloons carrying human across the ocean. However, still it’s not sufficient. So the gasoline option is kept, since even with a tank full of liquid hydrogen, you’ll dry up after running 100 miles.

Now the puzzle to be solved is how to increase the autonomy on the hydrogen fuel and getting them refuelled across the country.
